We are Cristin and Sean Dingman. We wanted something better for our kids and so we moved out to the country when they were little. We went from living in the city with all of the major conveniences to being completely off grid. We’re 30 miles from the nearest real store. The only utility that we have is internet. We have surrounded ourselves with ranchers that have been in the business for generations instead of years. We owe our success to everything that they taught us. Sometimes we look around and think that we must have all the luck.
Unknowingly, we started our cattle business when our twin girls decided that they wanted to enter the heifer replacement project at the Amador County Fair where we live. Heifer replacement, for those that don’t know, teaches kids how to raise an impregnated young cow and sell it to ranchers to replace or augment their aging stock. As we became better at raising these animals, we decided we would raise our own cattle. Our small two-cow herd grew and grew. Our friends decided that they wanted to buy some of our delicious meat and Double D Ranch was born.
Our Black Angus Cattle are 100% ranch-raised and grain-finished. They start with us and end with us. We take care of them their entire lives. We believe in raising our animals to have the best possible life – just like our daughters did all those years ago. We also believe that stress-free animals produce better meat. We vaccinate our animals shortly after they are weaned and we do not administer any other hormones for the rest of their lives. The only difference between our animals and certified organic is that we finish our animals by feeding them grain for 120 days. All of our meat is USDA graded and inspected. We sell full, half, and quarter Black Angus beef that is fully packaged with pick up in Jackson California, or delivery to California and Nevada.
